Spicy and Saucy Red Nail Theory?

TikTok’s most recent and trending spicy topic - the #RedNailTheory has taken the platform by storm for it’s claim that it seduces men?

As someone who rotates between 5 different shades of red nail polish…I was personally interested.

So, here is the video that took Tiktok by storm.

TikTok PR queen, Robyn Delmonte AKA @girlbosstown claimed her red manicure would garner the attention of men, taking Sigman Frued’s Red Nail Theory mainstream. This theory reminds men of their mothers, sirens (Rita Hayworth and Marilyn Monroe) and women in authority from the 1940’s and 1950’s when American Hollywood Starlets painted their nails red for films, shows, parties and award night events.

Rita Hayworth’s iconic manicure in the movie ‘Blood and Sand’ from 1941.

Let’s not forget Dita Von Teese and her timeless, vintage inspired look throughout the 1990’s and 2000’s.

Freudianism aside, the #RedColourTheory actually has multiple (thousands and thousands) of studies. These studies confirm it makes the wearer feel more confident, powerful, and not to mention the vibrant colour grabs at a mens attention.

Here are some more videos from women on TikTok who claim that their nails helped them secure more dates or dates with men they were interested in.

What are your personal thoughts on the Red Nail Theory?

Sincerely,

Ruby
